Steam Weekends

11/12, 18/19 & 25/26 - September 2010

Engineer Jim Haylock's two foot gauge 0-4-0 coal-fired steam tank locomotive Emmet" arrived safely at the Hayling Seaside Railway on the afternoon of Thursday 27th May, from its usual home at the workshops of the Moors Valley Miniature Railway near Ringwood, and was promptly and successfully put into steam for a series of trials that continued well into1 the evening. Save for a very minor problem with the loco's mechanical lubricator, which railway proprietor Bob Haddock reports were soon cured by a complete strip down and reassembly at Beachlands depot, these trials were a resounding success. "Emmet" is acting as understudy for the Hampshire Narrow Gauge Railway Trust's Bagnall saddle tank "Wendy", which has had to be withdrawn from service due to unforeseen boiler problems.
