The East Hayling Light Railway

The Hayling Seaside Railway is supported by the members of the East Hayling Light Railway Society.

Volunteers of both sexes, from many walks of life, and over a wide age range have become an essential part of the day-to-day operation and the future of our railway.

From a mere 10 members, when it was founded in 1988, the EHLR Society can now boast over 70 supporters.

Engine Drivers, Guards, Ticket Sellers (a.k.a Clippies!), Shop Assistants, Track Workers, Carriage Builders and Locomotive Restorers, are among the many trades undertaken by our well-trained volunteers.

If you fancy volunteering to do something both rewarding and useful with your spare time, you will find we are not a bad bunch to join. So why not pay us a visit and have a chat with one of the operating staff? You never know, you might even end up with a cup of the infamous ‘railway tea’ in your hand!

Having joined the EHLR Society, we will be pleased to help you to train for the position to which you aspire.
